Monday Morning Coffee Break: Trump Romancing <3, Hurricane Bad Mind and X6 Years Later

It’s a new week! Monday morning, bright and early so the free paper bun!  School, work and who don’t have neither of the above; MI BAD MIND YOU. But of course, you’re not here to hear me ramble on, grab the cup, the coffee and the sugar, tell your boss you’re on a break even though you just reach work. It’s time for your Monday Morning Coffee Break.

The biggest topic of the day of course is the second debate between resident Jackass in Chief and everyone’s senile orange coloured uncle Donald Trump and 70+ Beyonce on super fleek Hillary Clinton. Needless to say, the second debate went as everyone imagined with Donald Trump reversing his head with his ass and Hillary Clinton just dabbing on that corpse. But the most interesting part of the debate was the fiasco BEFORE it started, with comments Trump made in 2005 airing back to back on news networks where he claimed to actively tried to court married women to have sex with him. I use the term “court” here loosely as he referred it as ‘grabbing them by the pu**y.’ Trump has such a way with words, real Cassonova really hope Jamaicans don’t make a dance off that quote. In a rare turn of events however, he “apologised” for his comments which promptly caused hell to freeze over but was soon back to his old ways by blaming Hillary for Bill Clinton’s rape accusations and infidelities causing Bill to give him a side eye that would have slit a man’s throat had it been any one other than the unfeeling Trump. But the debate held more shadiness than any Jamaican politician’s heart as the moderator asked each debater what their favourite characteristic of each other was? Trump replied that he liked Clinton’s tenacity and that she never gives up. Clinton replied  that she liked Trump’s children making it clear that she liked nothing about the orange troll in front. The only way that could have been a more epic ending was if Obama went on stage and presented Hillary with a golden microphone to proceed with a mike drop. Hillary Out *peace sign*

An aside: Donald Trump went out of his way to throw the mini press conference with all the women who accused Bill Clinton of raping them. I wonder if Trump know he’s targeting the wrong Clinton? Also Ben Carson, WTF?

Go Through Matthew

Moving back to the Caribbean, we go to Haiti where the bodies are still being found and the death toll keeps rising. I am heartened to see that the Caribbean is rallying around our brothers and sisters who are currently in a tight spot. However with every good there are the basket of deplorables that we have to contend with, with some claiming that helping Haiti is not their responsibility  and that their Government’s should focus on helping their citizens instead of giving Haiti “free money.” The statement is a sad reflection on the Caribbean and the clannish atmosphere that still exists here but thankfully the persons echoing it are confined to social media as they can only hide behind their keyboards and talk, to them I say only one thing ‘No Man is an island.’ Still dealing with Matthew, many Jamaicans were vexed that the Hurricane didn’t make landfall here even after they prepared so diligently. It was almost comically to watch these persons come on national television to moan and complain they spent so much money for a man that didn’t come –nudge nudge wink wink.- But the vast majority of persons were more than happy that our little island in the sun survive to fight another day though truth be told, Montego Bay BADLY need some wash out…

An aside: That skull photo was creepy as hell. We also had some controversy over an ad put out by the Jamaica Broiler’s group where they claimed that we should thank God, prompting many to ask if Haiti should thank God too? What a mess. Also there are reports that over a 100 guns were found in Haiti after the hurricane. These guns are alleged to be bound for Jamaica, unnu go pray bout that!

X6 Years Gone By

It has been over 5 years since businessman Patrick Powell was charged with murder for the shooting death of the then 17-year-old Khajeel on July 1, 2011 and his trial is yet to start, prompting his sister to begin a campaign on social media to bring attention to the situation.

According to Kimberley, the case was to be tried sooner but the Vybz Kartel trial was given a higher priority and his case put to the front of the line, It has been over two years since that case has been settled and yet there is little to mention of the Khajeel's case being mentioned. The director of Public Prosecutions reportedly explained that the case is one of 500 on the court list while there are only four court rooms.

Powell’s Belgrade Loop, St Andrew, home was subsequently raided by the police and two BMW X6 vehicles were seized. On July 20, 2011, Powell was charged with Khajeel’s murder.

But, more than half a decade later, the murder trial hasn’t even started. The latest postponement in June saw the trial rescheduled to October 12 due to the unavailability of a courtroom.

The director of public prosecutions reportedly explained that the case is one of 500 on the court list while there are only four court rooms.

But Kimberly Mais remains defiant. She made an emotional plea in a social media post on Friday that accompanied a photo of her kneeling at her brother’s burial site

Aside: It is facinating how Jamaica's Justice system works. Had the roles been reversed and Khajeel been the one holding the gun, he would have been in jail already counting clouds. But a curious question is why hasn't Kingston College joined the call? I have long observed the close almost cult like relationship the school maintains with its students and for them to be this quiet is questionable. Though I understand the controversy that would follow the school, the young man was on his way to the institution and for someone to take his life lke this would enable the school to send a message of solidarity with his family. Fight for your students KC.
